I don't think Bjorn meant to enter the wrapper
in the contest in his original post. It was
more a general call to use RRedline and make
something useful with it...
Even if the wrapper would be highly advanced
to an almost perfect state (will never be
possible, I am afraid...), it still would not
fit into this contest - as far as I understand
the theme of the contest...
Don't be afraid, nobody wants to steal your
merits...
Why are all these people so nervous and/or
excited? It's still not a really big thing,
in my opinion - it's mostly fun, and perhaps,
in the end, it will be useful for a handful
of games.... And perhaps it will give us
satisfication that we are not totally excluded
from the arrogant Glide world. But it will
never be as fast (or perhaps not even near as fast)
as the same glide game on a voodoo (or even voodoo2).
So what? To my opinion, apart from the fun and
curiosity, the wrapper is only useful for games
where there is no D3D (or RRedline) version. How
many games are these? I would suspect that all
other games that have a glide and a D3D version,
either would be faster in the D3D than in the
wrapped version on Rendition, or would make use
of highly specialized color/texturing modes (there
are lots of them...) in the glide version,
which the wrapper would have to choke on badly,...
Again, so what? Don't take all this too serious...
Let's try to make it as best as we can (if we
have the spare time for it, which I sometimes
doubt), let's see how fast all our Verites can get,
and, perhaps, let's kick some dumb Voodoo ass...
(sorry, not meant seriously...)
